How to Do a Fishtail Braid
Difficulty Level: 1
Time to Make: 5 to 10 minutes
-
Step 1: Detangle your hair, choose which side you want the braid, and then split it into two even parts.
-
Step 2: The fishtail is one of the easiest styles to make. Take a small piece of hair from one side and bring it over by joining it to the inside of the other side. Do the same thing on the other side, taking from the outer section each time, and proceed all the way down the braid.
-
Step 3: Secure with a hair tie when you reach the tip. Once the braid is tightened, tug at small pieces, so they loosen up to create more volume.
-
Step 4: Using a curling iron, twist any shorter strands.
How to Do a Dutch Braid
Difficulty Level: 5
Time to Make: 10 minutes
-
Step 1: Distribute your hair into three equal sections.
-
Step 2: Start braiding the sections in a "left under, right under" style, wrapping the left piece of hair beneath the centerpiece, then the right piece under the center, joining small sections of hair every time as you go.
-
Step 3: Add strands of hair from your roots as you proceed down the back of your head. Secure with a hair tie.
-
Step 4: If any strands from the bottom didn't make it into the braid, snip them up near the middle to make the look more cohesive.
How to Do a Front Crown Braid
Difficulty Level: 3
Time to Make: 5 minutes
-
Step 1: Separate your hair into three sections by forming a clear part at the arch of your eyebrows - tuck all the hair on either side of the middle section.
-
Step 2: Brush out the middle section and prepare it with braid balm to tame loose strands, and then beginning at the back of your head, Dutch-braid the section toward your face. No need to braid all the way down - simply stop when you reach your forehead.
-
Step 3: Separate the rest of your unbraided hair into two equal sections, and tuck one off to the side behind your ear. Braid the free strand by using a three-strand braid, and tuck it behind your ear.
-
Step 4: Do the same thing on the other side.
-
Step 5: Once both sides are completed, twist and pin the braid into a cute bun (on the back or side of your head).
-
Step 6: Loosen the two braids to produce a relaxed peekaboo effect.
